If we first add the context that people gather into to groups to create because we are social animals, and that what we create (in these groups) changes as our perception of the always uncertain future changes; then it follows that as our shared perceptions change, the products of those group processes also change in ways that are broadly patterned. This is a macro social dynamic but by combining this perspective with a deeper understanding of how large groups of businesses endeavor to serve their markets, you can build valuable perspective into longer term changes of supply and demand in that market.
The steep part of the learning curve will be achieved only when these two sets of understanding are combined. And while this work borrows from a unique forecasting model, it is less about predicting future outcomes and more about understanding where various impulses of the longer term social momentum is taking us right now and why. Somewhere in this process, a more nuanced understanding of the short-medium-and long term time horizons will emerge.
