Back on Dec 1st, 2010 I posted this about how which State you live in will really matter. I've populated a number of links following that thread at the bottom of the post since then. The trend of state by state challenges is very clear as is the increasing polarity of state politics in finding solutions to gaping holes in finances. Today's NYT article link about California's southern counties considering cutting ties as well as Monday's issue discussing Minnesota's current gov. shutdown is posted there now. Will this social correction in the US see the division of any states in the years ahead? Large social corrections are capable of shrinking borders. Just look at Europe's map a few hundred years ago and now. Increasingly, what really matters to individuals will be closer to home and have the potential to change how we live everyday. What used to be a lifestyle and physical surroundings kind of decision has already changed for many since the housing crisis. I will update this trend post soon.
